This is an easy trap to fall into. It starts out innocent, but can spiral out of control quickly. It was such a rush to have a pretty, younger, single woman flirting with me, giving me compliments, and paying attention to me. It was new and exciting, almost like we were dating. I looked forward to seeing her at work or hanging out "just as friends" at happy hour. I knew I had a problem, crossed some line, when I realized that my heart began to race whenever I saw it was her texting/calling/e-mailing/IM'ing me. Thank God it never got sexual. But it was still hugely disrespectful to my wife. The funny thing is I have a great marriage, and I still fell into this trap! I can easily see how a full-blown affair can get started. I'm afraid to think what would have happened if my marriage was only mediocre or if my wife and I were in a rough spot when this was going on.
